Empty Streets?

I've been able to log on a couple of times and every time I log on I'm the "first one here!" on every street and every street is empty of everything. No tress, no piggies, no butterflies. Are there specific locations where the streets are not empty?

There are trees and things in Groddle Meadow. I'm also getting the "first one here" message on every street, but at least there are piggies to hang out with. =)
