Starter Inventory Bag?

Starting out and I'm finding I can't collect items without a bag, but I can't afford even the smallest bag. Didn't we get a kind of starter bag in the original game? Or did I miss something

Nevermind, I see I do have a inventory at the bottom of the screen. But a starter bag would be nice.
