How are icons supposed to work?

I noticed after this new update that now I can't revere an icon while it's in my inventory - I have to place it, tithe, then revere. Is this the way it's supposed to work? I've only been playing for a few weeks now (and never played Glitch, unfortunately) and I don't want to report this as a bug if it's actually returning things to their proper state. Thanks!

Yes, this is correct behavior. The old way (in your inventory) was a bit of a placeholder.
