Good afternoon,
I wanted to take a few minutes and let you guys in on the latest release from us here at CoU.
The first and most prominent thing that you might notice is that there are now fruit trees! They are not placed in any sensible way yet, but you will find 1-3 trees with which you can interact with on each street (assuming the map bends that way). These trees will regenerate their fruit as time on the street passes so don’t worry, you’ll never have to go hungry. Every 30 seconds they will regrow one piece of fruit up to a maximum of 60. This is because the fruit tree spritesheet has 60 sprites:
You are also able to interact with the trees (and piggies) now. If your character is standing close enough to a tree or piggy, you’ll notice that they glow with a blue outline. This means that you can press on your keyboard or right-click with your mouse and an action menu will pop up with available options:
The action that is highlighted in orange will be performed if you press
enter again:
If that action involves getting any loot, it will be placed into your inventory in the first available slot. It is not currently possible to interact with anything in your inventory or to move it around, but that will come eventually.
Items will stack with each other when appropriate or fill a new inventory slot if needed:
If you harvest from a tree or water it, you will be able to see the tree change states if you pay close attention. There is currently no limit to the nibbling of pigs but don’t worry, they don’t mind.
One other thing that is important is game sounds. We’ve had some trouble in the past due to how each browser implements different audio standards. This update should fix it so that no matter what browser or device you are playing on, you should hear all of the sounds as intended. Please let us know if you think something is not working as it should.
In other news, we’ve made some efforts to make the game play smoother if possible. Please give us feedback on what kinds of devices you find that it runs not so well on. As a baseline, the game runs poorly on my 2012 Nexus 7 tablet, acceptable on my Nexus 4 phone and great on my laptop and desktop. I find that I get the best experience using Chrome, but we are aiming to fully support Chrome, Firefox and IE so let us know what works for you.
Any comments or suggestions? We would love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading!
